由于本人未能成功在Ubuntu7.10上安裝firebird數據庫，于是跑到firebird的主頁上找答案，還真在firebrid的主頁上找到了一個文檔，雖然是針對Ubuntu 6.10+firebird1.5的，我想對于Ubuntu 7.10和firebird2.0也是一樣的。我將這份文檔翻譯成了中文，本人英語底子薄，不對之處，還望指教。另外本人只是閱讀了文檔，還沒有進行實驗呢
特別提醒，安裝源里的firebird2其實是firebird1.5并不是firebird2.0

在Ubuntu 7.10 linux上安裝設置firebird

這份文檔描述了在Ubuntu linux上安裝和運行firebird的過程。像在基于Debian GNU/Linux發行版一樣，在Ubuntu上安裝軟件是非常簡單直接的，firebird也不例外。這份指南基于Ubuntu 6.10 "Edgy Eft"。

Ubuntu "Edgy Eft"使用的Firebird包的版本是 1.5.3.4870-10，但是被稱為firebirdsql2。從已開始，Ubuntu嚴格的按照每6個月一個發行循環，所以這也許在2007年4月發行的代號為"Feisty Fawn"的版本中改變。（我在7.10版本看到，有不少叫做firebird的包，有1.5的，有2.0的，有2的就是1.5的，，然后分為classic版和super版，仔細看一下描述就會明白的。）

在目標計算機上使用管理員權限執行下列命令：

# apt-get install firebird2-super-server

Apt的包依賴分析機制會自動請求完全安裝需要的所有的需要的包，并且輸出下列內容：

firebird2-common firebird2-server-common libfbclient1

firebird2-server

firebird2-common firebird2-server-common firebird2-super-server

當詢問你選擇"Classic"或者"Super"服務器時，選擇其中一個，忽略"firebird2-server"虛擬包。（其實在Ubuntu7.10的安裝源里"classic"安裝包和"Super"安裝包是直接分開的。）原文如下，理解不太清楚：
Ignore the “firebird2-server” virtual package which will just ask you to select either the “Classic” or “Super” server.

這個軟件包將下載并且安裝到目標機器上，一個名為"firebird"的新用戶被建立來運行服務，這個服務程序會立即啟動：

Setting up firebird2-super-server (1.5.3.4870-10) ...
Created default security.fdb
Starting Firebird server: server has been successfully started

你將被詢問為SYSDBA用戶輸入一個新口令，包括拼寫錯誤：
